Tucked away in an unexpected corner of Diep River I stumbled upon Cafe D’Arts. A cosy little cafe with good food, great service and a very relaxed vibe. There is an outside deck are with wooden tables and chairs and a lovely view of the mountain. But beware, this is the windy city so hold onto your serviettes if you’re one of those adamant smoker and insist on being outdoors.
The inside area has a relaxing and warm feel and one can get very comfortable on the sofas – which is great for an afternoon catch up with friends. On the other hand if you´re hanging around in the area on business or waiting for your car at one of the many surrounding workshops (as I was) – the cafe has a free WiFi service so you don´t have to give social networking or your business reports a miss.
The menu has a great variety of breakfasts, sandwiches, salads and burgers. For those with a sweet tooth – prepare to be sugared as there is a lovely selection of cakes and treats. The milkshakes are simply delicious and come in generous helpings complete with a finishing touch of cream and cinnamon.
All in all Cafe D’Arts is a lovely little cafe with friendly staff and in-keeping with Cape Town’s laid back culture. Catering and wedding services are also available and if you considering a new hobby you should attend one of Lynn’s craft classes (scrap booking, embroidery, mosaics etc) in the afternoon between 2 and 4.
