One is spoilt for choice when looking for a coffee shop to grab a cuppa’ and some breakfast in Cape Town’s CBD, however, if you need your fix before 7am, your choices are limited.
We recently tried Issi on Bree Street (which I think was previously known as Escape Café). It was open when we arrived just after 6:30am and ready to serve us anything we wanted. There were already one or two other people sitting around and eating their breakfast – impressive.
From the outside, it is easily overlooked as the front entrance is very small, and it looks like the kind of coffee shop that only has two tables inside. Upon entering, everything changes, it is perfectly suitable for large groups with comfy couches and the best part… they have book exchange facilities. Definite win.
The lights are warm and the food is good. Free range eggs on rye toast with a cappuccino that did not taste burnt and topped with service from a friendly hipster. What a pleasure.
Plus, they serve breakfast all day and that’s fantastic!
