Just this morning Muse announced the release date and title of their upcoming seventh studio album, accompanied with the track listing. The album is titled Drones and is scheduled to be released on 8 June 2015. By nightfall, the band released “Psycho“, the first track to be heard off the album.
Muse has been teasing fans since late last year with images and video clips of the recording process via their Instagram account. The band also promised a much heavier sounding album than their last two albums, and if the guitar riff and snappy vocals – “I’m gonna make you, I’m gonna break you, I’m gonna make you a f—ing psycho,” – of this track is anything to go by, then the band certainly delivered. I, for one, am looking forward to some good ‘ol rock ‘n’ roll basics after the electronic infused master piece that was their last album The 2nd Law. “Psycho” will be followed by “Dead Inside” – the first official single to be released on 23 March.
According to Matt Bellamy, the album will be more rock oriented “I have this strong feeling that the next album should be something that really does strip away the additional things that we’ve experimented with on the last two albums, which is electronics, symphonics and orchestral work and all that kind of stuff“.
