After the success of his debut EP, Slow Horses, Trevor Rebello is well on his way to releasing his first full-length album. To give us a taste of what to expect, he’s just released “For Me” the first single from the upcoming album.
“For Me” was recorded at High Seas Studios and produced by Trevor Rebello, Rob Davidson, Jacques Du Plessis and Adrian Erasmus. He was joined by band member Rob Davidson on piano and organ, with Gavin Flaks on drums and Steven Vos on Guitar.
The track illustrates a clear extension of the band’s sound from “Slow Horses”, but progresses into more energetic territory. It opens with a friendly guitar riff that makes way for Trevor’s upbeat vocals – he has an unexpected way of delivering a vocal/lyrical arrangement that captivates the listener. Overall, the cheerful melody, combined with backup gospel vocals by Kananelo Rantso and Lebo Moalusi, results in a perfect mix of country, gospel, folk and rock. A bold mix that Trevor and his team got just right.
The upcoming album is yet to be named, but is set for release in early 2016.
