The end of Game of Thrones, The end of Bastille’s Bad Blood – so what’s left? A collaboration, that’s what!
Yip, it’s Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, lip-synching Dan Smith’s lyrics to “Oblivion“. And it’s awesome! This is the band’s ninth music video, and the track is the last single off their hugely successful debut album “Bad Blood”. But don’t be sad, Bastille have promised to release new material in the near future.
In the video we see an anxious Turner take to the mic in the middle of a stadium, but her confidence grows as she braces a crowd of demolition derby supporters. Not quite the imagery I imagined for the gentle melody and poignant lyrics of this track. None-the-less, she embraces it as if it were her own, then hops into one of the beat-up cars and takes on the race track herself.
Quite unusual in comparison to their earlier music videos, which are generally abstract and feature the band in one way or another.
In the mean time, Bastille are still enjoying the success of the first single “Pompeii” – which is the most streamed track OF ALL TIME in the UK!
